Sinth is a patent scientist in the chemistry/biology team. He has experience with a wide range of biotechnologies including antibody-based technologies and vaccines (in the areas of infectious diseases and cancer biology), peptide/polypeptide therapies, cell-based therapies (including adoptive therapies and stem-cell based technologies), and small molecular inhibitors.
Sinth also has expertise relating to therapeutic and food-related products, genetics, diagnostic and prognostic markers including iRNAs and gene silencing, molecular biology (diagnostics and laboratory kits) and biochemistry (enzymes).
Prior to joining FPA, Sinth gained experience as a patent scientist at an Australian intellectual property firm drawing on his background in immunology, microbiology and biochemistry.
Sinth’s current practice includes undertaking patent searches and prosecuting patent applications in Australia, South East Asia and all major North American, European and Asian jurisdictions. He is also involved in drafting patent specifications and preparing patentability opinions.
Sinth graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Biochemistry and Immunology) graduating with first class honours. He then completed his PhD also from The University of Melbourne in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.
He was awarded a CJ Martin NHMRC Early Career Fellowship to conduct research at the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (MD, USA). He returned to Australia as a Research Fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity and published extensively during this time with more than 30 peer reviewed articles.
In addition he has presented at leading global conferences on immunology and virology. He is currently completing his Masters of IP.
