About Andrew

Excited to combine expertise in science and law to support innovative biotechnology.

Andy has a broad scientific background with expertise across immunology, bioinformatics and in vitro diagnostics.

Prior to joining FPA, Andy completed his PhD at WEHI where he identified biomarkers for rationally guiding therapeutic intervention in people newly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, Andy developed a method to isolate extracellular vesicles from joint fluid and applied it to reveal how extracellular vesicles contribute to inflammatory arthritis.

Following his PhD, Andy completed postdocs at the University of Cambridge, and the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology. Both of Andy’s postdocs involved partnerships with industry to bring to new products to market that improve outcomes for people living with disease. At Cambridge, Andy worked on developing a blood test blood test for diagnosing and monitoring residual disease in blood cancer. In addition, he developed machine learning pipelines to classify immunological diseases using genetic information. At the Kennedy Institute, Andy profiled resident T cells involved in driving non-infectious immune-mediated uveitis and their potential for targeted therapeutic intervention.

Andy’s experience allows him to work with a diverse range of clients to understand the therapeutic value of their inventions and help realise their commerciality.

Andy has authored peer reviewed articles in journals including: Journal of Extracellular Vesicles, Clinical & Translational Immunology, Cell Reports Medicine, and Arthritis & Rheumatology.
