Brett has experience working with both large and small local and overseas clients in the drafting of patent specifications, filing of patent applications in Australia and overseas, infringement advice and strategic IP portfolio management. His clients include some of Australia’s largest companies and research organisations, as well as multinational corporations. 

Brett worked as an in-house patent counsel in the patent department of a large Australian company, where he worked with researchers, obtained protection for inventions and commercialised the outcomes. He joined private practice in 1989 and became a partner of a predecessor firm of FPA Patent Attorneys in 1996. During his career, Brett has also worked in the patent profession in Japan and Singapore and now actively manages the international patent portfolios of a number of clients.

Brett also has a great deal of practical experience acting for clients in inter-parties oppositions before IP Australia as well as advising on infringement and validity supporting litigation.
